JAMES A. BERLUTI President and CEO
Jim, one of the co-founders of Eastern Connection in 1983, oversees the company's day-to-day operations from EC's corporate office in Woburn, Mass. Among Jim's industry accolades, he was the keynote speaker at the courier industry's largest conference sponsored by Courier Magazine in 1995. He was also a featured speaker at Inc.World in Boston. Prior to starting Eastern Connection, Jim was the New England Sales Manager for Sky Courier International. A 1978 graduate of Boston University, Jim received a BS in Communications. He serves on BU's Board of Overseers, he is involved in many additional civic and professional organizations, he has been honored for his support of the American Heart Association, and he is widely published in the industry. Ted, one of EC's original founders, works out of the company's New York office, which has been recognized for its success in rebounding in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Over the years, Ted has managed all functional areas within the company. Ted, a highly respected veteran in the industry, is a frequent speaker and contributor to the community. In 1994, he received a distinct honor by being named Entrepreneur of theYear by Entrepreneur Magazine. Prior to opening Eastern Connection, he worked in the courier industry for many years. A native of Philadelphia, Ted received a BBA from Penn State University.
STEVE LAVIGNE Executive Vice President of Operations
Steve, with more than 20 years of executive- level industry experience, joined Eastern Connection in March of 2006. Steve served in senior level positions with UPS. He held positions in operations, engineering, training and project teams. During his career at UPS he was responsible for the successful planning and opening of the South Boston facility in 2001. He attended the University of Mass in Amherst and is currently completing his Masters degree in Business Management.
DENNIS VILLANO Vice President of IT
Dennis, who joined us as Director of IT in 2004, previously worked for The Boston Foundation as the Director of IT, providing network, software, hardware, and telecommunications support. There, Dennis designed programs ranging from payroll to fund-raising and development. From 1987-1994, he served as MIS Manager at Retina Associates, where he designed, installed, and maintained new medical systems.
KEVIN MALLORY Vice President of Finance Kevin, with more then 16 years of finance experience within the transportation industry rejoined Eastern Connection in March of 2007. In addition to his previous tenure at Eastern Connection, Kevin has held the position of Controller for: a Massachusetts based same day courier company and most recently at a start-up medical device manufacturer. He has a proven track record in financial resource management and system implementations. Kevin received a BS degree from Northeastern University.
CAROL MICHITSON Director of Customer Relations Carol, with more than 20 years of call center and account management experience and over 11 years of industry experience, she joined EC in January 2004. Carol has brought her wealth of knowledge and experience in call center management and customer relations. Prior to EC, Carol worked at Cross Country Motor Club, where she held positions in call center and operations management, training and account management. She worked at Choice Logistics for 6 years in various levels of management. She has an Associate degree in Business and is now attending Northeastern University and is working towards a Bachelors degree in Business.
BRIAN GRIGG Director of HR
Brian Grigg joined the Human Resources team in late 2007 as Human Resources Manager. Brian joins Eastern Connection with 3+ years of Human Resources Management experience. In his last position as HR Manager for the Charles Lea Center, Brian was responsible for all HR functions. Prior to his HR Management experience, Brian worked as a recruiter for a professional recruitment agency. He brings to Eastern Connection, 4+ years of warehouse and manufacturing recruitment. Brian has a BS in Psychology from Wofford College and a Masters Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology/HR Management from Appalachian State University.
KIM SHOGREN Marketing Manager Kim joined Eastern Connection in January of 2010 as Head of the Marketing Department. Prior to Eastern Connection, Kim worked as the Account Director at VAF Productions, a Full Service Advertising Agency in Dallas, TX. Previous to her work at VAF Productions, Kim worked in a variety of roles from Production to Client Service with clients such as McDonald's, Wendys, AT&T, Southwest Airlines, Blockbuster and numerous automotive groups during her 10 years in the Advertising Industry. Kim graduated from the University of North Texas with a BS in Journalism with an Advertising concentration.
